I like to photograph the world around me, mainly what I see in nature but I don't discriminate against man-made objects and structures. I am drawn to strong colours, shapes and textures when composing my images.
Coming from a family of avid gardeners, much of my subject matter reflects an interest in flowers, plants and trees, as well as the birds and insects that visit them.
I also like to photograph skies, rivers and landscapes, whether that's sunsets, cloud formations or farmer's fields.
I invite you to explore the links below to see some examples of my images.
I love flowers, in a garden, in a vase...it doesn't matter. In this case a good macro lens was needed to capture all their details.
The first two here are tiny Campanulas with the blooms measuring around half an inch tall.
The third is of a plant with even smaller flowers. This variety of Thalictrum grows between six to eight feet tall and displays an abundance of tiny little blooms that are only a quarter of an inch across when fully open.
I like experimenting with motion as a way of creating photos with an abstract feel. Colour and contrast adjustments in post processing help to complete the unique effects.
I was happy with the results in this painterly, ethereal landscape.
The provincial flower of Ontario is lovely in both form and simplicity.
They brighten up woodland areas in April and May but some varieties are threatened or endangered, so they should not be disturbed or dug up.
Goldfinches are cheerful, brightly coloured birds and this one was sitting in a beautiful Eastern Redbud in full foliage.
Sometimes your in the right place at the right time...
These beautiful flowers, often grown for their vibrant blooms, are short lived in spring gardens.
Bright and colourful in shades of blood red, pristine white, deep plumb and pretty pinks, they are real eye catchers...even so I couldn't resist pushing the curves and saturation to stretch the artistic beauty of these images.
I have the great fortune of a west facing view. As a result I get to see beautiful skies, interesting clouds and stunning sunsets all year round.
Like fingerprints, each sky creates it’s own scene, whether it’s beautifully blue and serene, filled with fluffy white clouds or vividly intense colours that appear at the end of the day.
Here’s an example of what I see when I look out my window.
